Melitopol educators got familiar with the interactive learning tools and methods in the process of teaching ‘Media Literacy’ course

14.02.2017

In February, 14, 2017, the training ‘Interactive learning tools and methods in the process of teaching Media Literacy course’ was held with the support of U-Media, Internews Network for the faculty members of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Melitopol State Teachers’ Training University.

An illustrative example was that this university has just begun active work on media literacy active implementing in the educational process. Therefore, training was characterized by the high level of dialogue interaction, discussions and questions from training participants.

Very interesting were thoughts of teachers about the up-to-date importance of Media Literacy course implementing in the educational process. Teachers complained that they student were spending a lot of time using social networks, not with a purpose of self-development but for the usual ‘surfing’, watching movies and virtual communication. We talked also about the problems of interaction with these students whom it is quite difficult to prove that media only represent the reality but do not reflect it faithfully at all.

This event and the project on media literacy implementing in Ukraine are realized due to the support of the American people given by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Internews Network. The contents expressed during this event are the responsibility of the Academy of Ukrainian Press and do not necessarily reflect the views of USAID, U.S. Government and Internews Network.
