ANNOUNCING THE RESULTS OF THE MINI PROJECT COMPETITION "Wartime Media Education: New Challenges, Resources and Audiences"

The Academy of Ukrainian Press announces the results of a competition to support mini-projects that will promote media literacy during military operations.

The meeting to discuss the applications for the mini-project competition "Media Education as a Countermeasure to Military Challenges" took place on 6 April 2023. The jury consisted of Andriy Kulykov, Chairman of the Board of Hromadske Radio, Oksana Volosheniuk, Researcher at the Department of Screen and Stage Arts and Cultural Studies at the Rylsky Institute of Art History, Folklore and Ethnology, Chief Specialist of the Department of Educational Content, Language Policy and Education of National Minorities of the Directorate of Preschool, School, Out-of-School and Inclusive Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Raisa Yevtushenko, responsible for the introduction of media education in general secondary education, Valentyna Potapova, Head of the Almenda Civic Education Centre, member of the Board of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The jury secretary is Yulia Rytsyk, the Academy of Ukrainian Press project assistant.

The projects were evaluated according to the following criteria:

clarity and relevance

innovation and creativity;

clearly defined and articulated audience in the description, clarity, and consistency of goals and ideas of the concept;

the budget is realistic and reasonable;

availability of tools for measuring project effectiveness.

As a result, the jury selected 7 organizations as winners out of 95 applications submitted for the mini-project competition "Wartime Media Education: New Challenges, Resources, and Audiences":

  1. State Institution "South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynsky" - Information security of media literacy in wartime
  2. Sumy Press Club - Information threats in the border communities of Sumy region: building resilience with the participation of local media
  3. Mykolaiv Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education - Media Recovery
  4. Initiative group "Leaders of Educational Initiatives" - Information resilience of civil servants
  5. Municipal extracurricular educational institution "Small Academy of Sciences for Pupils' Youth" of the Dnipro City Council - Media literacy on a first-name basis - control your infospace UA
  6. Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko - I Media Literacy Hackathon for Higher Education Applicants
  7. Oleksandriya City Centralized Library System - InfoSieve Common Space
