Media education means teaching theory and practical skills necessary for the comprehension of present-day mass media. Media education is considered as one of the most well-established and proven methods of creating demand for high-quality journalistic content. Media literacy is a derived result of media education, it is the ability to perceive and interpret media texts. We believe that society needs these skills right now, when there is a new round of strong political and corporate control over major media resources.
At present, media education in societies with stable democracy has been introduced in school curricula or incorporated in different disciplines for more than two decades.
The AUP’s primary goal lies in implementation of media education in the learning process through creation and encouragement of leading media teachers’ network, applying international experience for implementing media education in Ukraine.
