The Historical Paradox webinars' equator

15.05.2023

Greetings, friends!

Last week, we held exactly half of the planned events under the Historical Paradox training programme. Below are some details, but we suggest you do so for those who have not yet registered, as we are completing the cycle of events in the coming days. Registration: http://surl.li/hantk

The Academy of Ukrainian Press (AUP) implemented the project with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, the German Foreign Office and Civil Society Cooperation.

The author of the term "critical thinking" is the American philosopher John Dewey. He describes critical thinking as active, persistent, thorough, applicable to all forms of information, reflective and autonomous. This is exactly what the Historical Paradox programme is designed to do.

It teaches you to:

- to scrupulously test any idea;

- conduct your own research, not be satisfied with someone else's opinion;

- to be attentive to your thoughts and check how logical, reasonable and unbiased they are;

- recognize gaps in logic;

- check the reliability of sources and separate facts from opinions and fiction.

What happened to the Titanic? How did one of the major technological achievements of the early 20th century end up at the bottom of the ocean in just a few hours? What happened to the thousand passengers who have never been found over the past hundred years?

Why do newspapers, especially tabloids, play an essential role in Princess Diana's death? They make Diana a model and are partly to blame for her death.

How did John F. Kennedy become America's youngest and most popular president, and why do the assassination details still haunt so many people?

Why did one of the most famous actresses of American culture, Marilyn Monroe, die almost at the peak of her popularity?

There are many different reviews and different assessments of the fates and problems of these heroes. Many facts tell us what happened almost up to the hour of the tragedy. But these facts are interpreted in different ways. There are different versions. It is important to learn to compare them!
